The temporary prosthetic trap
All-on-4 and full-mouth cases are done in stages. After the implant posts are placed, the patient receives a temporary prosthetic (often acrylic) that is worn for 3 to 6 months while the implants integrate with the bone. The permanent prosthetic (zirconia or porcelain-fused) is fabricated and placed only after successful integration.
Some quotes include the temporary. Some do not. Some include a "conversion" prosthetic that serves as the temporary and is later relined, but quote the permanent prosthetic separately. Always ask: "Does this quote include both the temporary and the permanent prosthetic, or will I receive a separate quote for the permanent?"
