Surgery Quotes is a free tool and a referral service, run by Scout Theory LLC. The tool costs you nothing and works whether or not you ever contact us. The referral part is how we pay for it, and we'd rather explain that on this page than let you discover it later.
The problem the log solves
If you're paying for surgery yourself — uninsured, or insured with a deductible high enough that it amounts to the same thing — you quickly discover that prices are wild. Two hospitals twenty minutes apart can quote figures that differ by a factor of three for identical work. Neither of them will tell you the other exists.
So people do the sensible thing and start calling around. And then they end up with four numbers on four different scraps of paper, quoted on four different bases, with no way to tell which one is actually cheapest. That's the mess this log tidies up.
Comparing like for like
A quote covering only the surgeon's fee isn't cheaper than a bundled quote — it's smaller. The log makes you tick off what each one actually includes, which is usually the moment the rankings change.
How we're paid
Clinics pay us a referral fee when someone we introduce goes on to book treatment. You never pay us anything, and there's no markup added to what a clinic charges you.
That's a genuine commercial interest and we're not going to pretend otherwise. What it means in practice: treat our comparison the way you'd treat any other quote in your log — as one number among several, from a source with a reason to want your business. The log is designed to work perfectly well if you ignore us entirely.
What we won't do
- We don't practise medicine. No diagnosis, no treatment recommendations, no opinion on whether you need surgery.
- We don't give insurance advice. Coverage questions belong with your plan or a licensed broker.
- We don't invent numbers. Anything we send is a typical 2026 range for planning, clearly labelled as such, never dressed up as a quote for your case.
- We don't publish fake reviews. No stock-photo patients, no invented testimonials, no surgeon names we can't stand behind.
On looking abroad
Our own referral network is in Colombia, where we're based. It's a real option for a lot of procedures and a bad option for some — anything urgent, anything where you'd struggle to travel, anything where follow-up care at home is the harder half of the job.
The World Health Organization ranked Colombia first in the Western Hemisphere and 22nd globally for health system performance in its 2000 report. That's a genuine benchmark and it's also twenty-six years old, so we pair it with things you can check today: practitioner licences in ReTHUS, Colombia's national health personnel registry, and Joint Commission International accreditation where a hospital actually holds it.
